Onigiri Rice Ball with Tuna

A make-ahead Japanese rice ball with a tuna filling, wrapped in nori.

Method

  1. Make the filling

    Mix the tin tuna, drained with the light mayo (optional) if using.

  2. Shape

    Wet your hands, salt them with the salt, and pack the cooked sushi rice around a spoon of filling. Shape into a triangle.

  3. Wrap

    Wrap with a strip of sheet nori.

Notes

Around 220 kcal and 12g protein. Naturally lactose-free. A make-ahead grab-and-go snack or light lunch — uses leftover rice well.
